Your kid would need a lot of encouragement and praising words from you. However, this is not always enough. At times, you will have to adopt certain methods which would create a long-term impact on your child. In the following section, you will be presented a few tips on this particular topic
• Allow Your Child to take charge: Whenever you find your child in a sort of tangle, it is but obvious for you, as a parent to come to their rescue. Keep yourself in reserve for the more serious and alarming conditions. When it comes to the day-to-day crisis in life, allow them to deal with it themselves. However, you need to keep a close eye and monitor how they handle the situation. If it goes beyond control, you need to step in. The moment your child starts addressing problems themselves, they would feel much more confident
• Let them be the Decision Maker: As a parent, you can certainly put forward your views and opinions regarding any important decision of life. However, when it comes to taking decisions, allow them to take the call. In this case, you need to act as their mentor and try to help them make the decision. However, when it comes to taking the final call, allow them to be the judge.
• Motivate: Failure is the key to success. Make them realise that they are bound to encounter failures in different aspects of life. At times, they could get demoralised. This is where you need to step in and let them know that failure is a part of life; however, it’s not the end of life. Make them realise that there will always be tomorrow. That is when they need to go full blast and seize the opportunity with both hands.
• Help them solve the Problems: Whenever your child is having problems, you need to play the role of a helper and a guide and not that of a problem solver. You can guide them with your experience and knowledge, by making sure that they are the ones who ultimately crack it.
No matter how much you adore your child, stop spoon-feeding them after a certain point of time. Let them realise that they are the one who should be in charge of their life and it is up to them to make responsible decisions. Sure, they would make mistakes, make no mistake about it! However, this is the process which would make them confident.
