Manohar Gopalakrishna Prabhu Parrikar the incumbent Chief Minister of Goa and one of the most Distinguished leaders of the Bharatiya Janta Party left for heavenly abode on the 17th March 2019. Parrikkar was known and admired for his simplicity and his connect with the common man.
Shri Manohar Parrikar was born on the 13th December 1955 in Mapusa, Goa.As a young Kid, he was fascinated by RSS and soon joined the organisation and was entrusted the task of promoting the ideologies of RSS.
Shri Manohar Parikkar completed his bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in the year 1978.
He got elected to the Legislative Assembly of Goa in 1994 and he was the first IIT alumnus to serve as MLA of an Indian state. Subsequently, he went on to become the Chief Minister of Goa Three times and also held the portfolio of Defence Minister of India from 2014-2017.
Shri Parikkar was the first Chief Minister of BJP to endorse the name of Mr Narendra Modi as a Prime Ministerial Candidate for the Lok Sabha Elections which happened in the Year 2014
