But, still many people fall sick now and then and feel tired most of the times, which makes them question the effectiveness of the daily health routine they are following. 1. Skipping Breakfast
Yes, it is understandable that we all have to rush to reach our offices, colleges or schools on time; but does that mean that we compromise our health by skipping the breakfast?
Breakfast is the most important meal as it gives us the energy to be productive throughout the day. And many people skip breakfast because they are in a hurry which is one of the biggest health mistakes that they make.
Eating a nutritious breakfast in the morning helps in giving us energy, improves our concentration and also reduces weight.
So, if you have the habit of missing your breakfast every morning; stop this practice right now. Eat a heavy and a healthy breakfast and make sure that you don’t include junk foods in the breakfast.
2. Over-Exercising
Too much of everything is bad! Yes, it is true that doing exercises on a regular basis helps our body to be in a proper shape and keep us healthy. However, over-exercising can lead to hormonal changes in the body, which can further lead to weight gain and weaken the body’s immune system. Also, it may damage the muscles and cause back or knee problems. Thus, while doing exercises, we must know our body and its limits
3. Getting Inadequate Sleep
It has become a trend these days to sleep late and wake up late. The reason for not getting proper sleep may be anything like the pressure of work, or studies or watching one more episode of ‘Friends’, but the result is that our body does not get adequate sleep which eventually makes us unhealthy.
To maintain proper health, one must sleep on time. Also, it is not just about ‘For How Much time you sleep’, but it is also about the quality of sleep that affects our health. Even if someone is sleeping for 9 hours and is not able to have a good night sleep; then it is of no use.
So, sleep well both in terms of ‘quantity’ and ‘quality’ to keep yourself healthy and fit.
4. Addiction to Mobile Phones and Laptops
Yes, it is really hard to put down our cell phones and laptops. But, we should because these devices are dangerous for our health. Constant use of devices like laptops, cell phones, tablets, etc. weakens our body’s immune system, increases stress levels in the body, leads to vision problems and can also cause Cardiovascular diseases.
Thus, minimise the use of these devices to stay healthy and fit. Also, ensure that you do not use these devices for 30 minutes before you sleep as the light emitted from these devices disrupts the sleep mechanism.
5. Taking Too Much Stress
Everyone’s life is difficult, and all of us go through bad phases in life. It is completely normal to feel stressed once in a while, but letting the stress take over your mind and body is something that you must avoid.
Taking too much stress can have a negative impact on the health; it can lead to increased Blood Pressure, Severe headache, chest pain and sleep deprivation. One can take the help of meditation to reduce the stress. Also, one can visit a Psychologist if he or she is not able to deal with stress.
6. Eating Junk Foods
One cannot deny that fast foods like Pizza, Burgers and Fried do tastes good; however regular consumption of these unhealthy foods can lead to obesity, Cardiovascular Diseases, Diabetes, Stress and other chronic health conditions.
So, start eating healthy foods to stay away from health conditions. One can enjoy their favourite fast foods once in a week, but the rest of the days- Healthy and nutritious foods must be the part of everybody’s daily health routine.
7. Not Flossing
When it comes to oral hygiene, most people just focus on brushing their teeth properly and totally miss out on flossing. However, brushing teeth is not enough to prevent dental problems. Flossing helps in removing sticky bacteria, or plaque from the teeth. Plaque generates acid, which can irritate the gums, cause cavities and lead to gum diseases. Thus, one must do regular flossing to prevent oral health problems.
8. Not Drinking Enough Water
There are endless benefits of drinking water. It helps in flushing toxins out of our body, improves skin complexion, and boosts our body’s immune system, increases energy and a lot more.
One must drink at least eight glasses of water every day. Drinking water at the right time and in the right amount can help people stay healthy.
Drinking two glasses of water in the morning after waking up helps in activating internal organs. Drinking one glass of water 30 minutes before a meal helps in improving digestion and one glass of water before going to bed helps in avoiding strokes and heart attacks.
Keeping our body and mind in a healthy state is a challenging task, but is not impossible. With a healthy routine, one can always get a healthy body and mind. Just stick to the routine, and you will undoubtedly lead a hale and hearty life!
